Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day: Honouring Indigenous Culture and Heritage
News posted on June 19, 2024On June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day, we stand in celebration of the unique and resilient First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada. As summer solstice, this day marks the longest day of the year and a time of year that many Indigenous groups have traditionally celebrated their culture and heritage.
MMSW works across the traditional lands of many Indigenous groups across Saskatchewan. We honour the culturally rich history that these lands hold with many Nations in stewardship, care – and leadership for future generations. We encourage you to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Indigenous Peoples across Canada by attending an event near you: https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/campaigns/list-events.html
